Inside Alterra: A New Standard for Luxury Living in Newcastle

I was recently invited out by Tri-Pointe Homes and had the opportunity to view their stunning new construction community, Alterra, located right here in the beautiful Newcastle. I even got to tour two of their model homes! If you are looking for a new home in this area, you'll quickly find that this is a truly wonderful place to live.
In this article, we’re going to highlight this great community. But we are also going to talk about what makes Tri-Pointe different, what they offer, and how their process stands out from pretty much any other large builder here in the Pacific Northwest.
Location, Location, Location
Let’s start with where you’ll be living. The location of Alterra is about as centralized as it gets. You are just minutes away from downtown Bellevue, the prestigious Newcastle Golf Course, and all major freeways. Plus, for all you outdoor enthusiasts out there, you'll have quick access to the hiking trails on Cougar Mountain.
This particular community consists of 62 homes. Out of the ones that are currently still available, prices range from $2.4 million up to $2.7 million.
The Modern Scandinavian Vibe
Alterra offers three distinct floor plans: a two-story home, a two-story home with a walkout basement, and a three-story home. These spacious residences range from roughly 3,200 square feet up to 4,200 square feet.
What's cool is that this community is the first time Tri-Pointe has introduced this modern Scandinavian style aesthetic in the region. I personally think it looks wonderful, and I predict we'll be seeing a lot more of this product in the near future.
You immediately notice the high-end design when you see these homes. Tri-Pointe Homes has actually partnered with Bobby Berk, the world-renowned interior designer and TV personality, to design the model homes across a lot of their communities. Because of this partnership, you really get an elevated design experience when you tour them.
Functional and Flexible Living
The home designs offer some fantastic flexibility. For example, in the two-story plan, there’s a separate bedroom with its own distinct entrance right off the courtyard. This creates a great space for guests or is a perfect alternative for a private, dedicated in-home office. Since it even includes an attached three-quarter bath, it truly offers a lot of flexibility for how you want to live.
The Tri-Pointe Difference: True Personalization
I mentioned earlier that we’d talk about the Tri-Pointe buying experience—and this is where they really separate themselves from other large builders in the area.
With most other new construction builders, your options are very limited. They operate at scale, meaning you get specific carpet, specific flooring, and only a couple of cabinet colors. The result is a community where many homes end up looking very similar to each other.
With Tri-Pointe, the process is different. Once you pick your community, your lot, and the floor plan that fits your needs, you are assigned an interior designer. You then meet in their design studio to fully personalize all the finishes, from flooring and cabinets to counters. Even though there are 62 homes in Alterra, this process ensures no two homes will be alike.
Included Luxury, Not Upgrades
Another major way Tri-Pointe stands out is by including features that would typically be expensive, add-on upgrades with other builders. Unlike competitors, who often charge extra for appliances, Tri-Pointe includes high-end items like a Sub-Zero fridge and JennAir appliances in the standard price. Additionally, the homes come with luxury essentials like air conditioning, quartz countertops throughout, and tile in the bathrooms. Even the outdoor space is taken care of: the front and back yard comes fully fenced with mature landscaping and irrigation, which would be a very expensive upgrade with any other builder. Tri-Pointe bundles all of this in, giving you a truly high-end product from the start.
Final Thoughts
Tri-Pointe Homes has done a wonderful job with Alterra. This is by far the most elevated experience when buying a new construction home in a larger development, and it’s hard to match with any other builder.
